One more FCB concert until the season *really* ends, that one tomorrow with the FCB Big Band. With concerts and rehearsals out of the way I am hopeful we can get closer to getting the backyard into the condition the city wants. It is amazing how fast stuff in our yard grows and how hard it is to kill some of the stuff. We cut down mulberry trees; they already have new growth coming up from the stumps. And grape vine, good grief.

In mom news, she has one heck of a bad cold (I hope it really is a cold and not the Delta variant). She lost her voice and couldn't talk with me over the weekend but I called her again on Monday night and she was improving.

After the Monday concert we were finally able to take the van into the repair shop. [personal profile] jebra rented a car from Enterprise under the assumption the car would be in the shop all week. It was done by mid-afternoon and, shockingly, the repair was free. The mechanic had to bend the something-or-other back into the correct shape and replace a broken pin. The horrible news is that shop is closing at the end of the week because they have decided to retire. I hope they have an excellent rest of their lives but good grief I'm sorry to see them go.

Last night we had social knitting on the church's lawn. Maybe a dozen of us but the weather was great, the bugs weren't too bad, and it was lovely seeing everyone. I am working on another chemo cap after struggling with the new-to-me cast-on all weekend. The yarn I'm working with is soft and smooth and intrigues me as it viscose from sugar cane. I keep thinking it should be sticky, but it isn't.

Somehow I finished not only the all-silk chemo cap but another cat bed over the course of the weekend. I know I had all of Saturday to craft as [personal profile] jebra was at the Big Band rehearsal. I had a few hours on Sunday too as I was hosting the Minneapolis Stitch & Bitch. I am still amused that I'm in a leadership position as I'm not only in Michigan but haven't traveled to the Twin Cities in a decade. Adding to the fun we have two new members, one in Texas who is under doctor's orders to be more social (she has medical problems that leave her pretty much home-bound), and the other a very nice young woman who is teaching herself to crochet. I want to introduce her to [personal profile] one_raido ASAP.
