So is it lucky or unlucky to have your van break down in your brother's driveway six hours away from your own home? I think on balance it was very lucky, because if the coolant system had gone kaput later in the day all of the riders would have been stranded without the means to get the van repaired or to make it to where they needed to be later that day. And if it had broken on the drive to Prudenville or to Pendleton it would have been even worse.
As you might guess, I had a very quiet long weekend plus and extra day before jebra returned home. I crocheted cat beds (5), a hemp soap sack (pictured), and even knit a few rows on the beach hat I started a while back. I left the house just once while jebra was gone, and the only place I went was to our detached garage. I didn't see a single human and it felt so good to be among other people when we came in to work yesterday.
I talked to my mom on Thanksgiving and she was doing well then. I also had a long text exchange with my brother out in California. I think it may have been the longest conversation we have ever had.
On the washing machine front, a new machine has been ordered and is supposedly being delivered sometime on Friday. I plan to check in with the store tomorrow to see if I can get a delivery time set so that I don't need to miss another day at work. I am looking forward to doing laundry as I the piles of laundry are growing at an alarming rate.
