Project 52

We took Friday off from work and drove down to Elkhart Indiana with mbumby to work at volunteers in the Production Crew at the Elkhart Jazz Festival. I enjoyed all of the music I heard while hanging out at the Elkhart Columbus Club. The best part of the weekend was seeing our friends who moved to Elkhart, especially the one who I had no idea had moved, Robbin, who was once our favorite cashier at Costco.

While we were in Elkhart, I saw a tweet from New Beginnings Animal Rescue showing off the kittens born the day after the Motor City Furry Con concluded. The six kittens were named after furries and I forwarded the tweet to [personal profile] jebra. He immediately responded "We can haz Pandez!?" I still don't know if we can although I called three times, with one of them begging to put Pandez on hold for us. We'd have needed to pay the adoption fee for him if we wanted that done but they don't take credit cards and we were a good six hours away. The first time they are open since this weekend is today at 4:00 pm. I have this strange feeling we'll be leaving work early today...

Fiona, by the way, does not appear to enjoy being any only child. And I still miss Hamish like crazy. It is still amazing to me how quiet the house is without him. I miss the loud thumps he'd make jumping from whatever high spot onto the floor. Anyway, Fiona was clearly disgruntled when we returned from Elkhart. We'd left her home alone for three full days and she clearly missed us. Heaven knows how she's going to do when were gone for the six days Anthrocon will take. We leave a week from today, which is why even if adopt Pandez tonight he won't be coming home with us immediately. I do not want a kitten running loose in my house unsupervised for more than eight hours at a stretch. Not out of fear of what mischief he or she will cause, but for concern for his or her well-being.

In mom news, she's currently at my sister's place down in the Carolinas and having a wonderful time seeing my sister, her grandchildren, and enjoying the swimming pool.
