Project 52

(If the image refuses to load, you should be able to see it in a new tab by clicking here.)

I'm irritable today. The day started with us getting up too late to get to work on time, then I fought with my knitting while I waited for [personal profile] jebra to get ready. I'm working on artificial bird's nests for the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue and the K2togethers are being a right pain in the ass. I'm using two strands of not-very-stretchy acrylic yarn and the yarn either wants to pop off my needle before the stitches are knit together or it wants to split. Very, very annoying. Then on the way in to work, my hotspot refused to connect to my tablet and I could not get any of my devices to find my current location which meant I had a heck of a time getting Ingress to start and let me play. We're trying to gear up for an Ingress event on Saturday so this was extra frustrating. The event will be held in Royal Oak so there is really no valid excuse for us to miss it (well, unless there's a fatality in the family (see what a happy and optimistic person I am. *sigh*).

In addition to the bird's nests, I've also knocked out a few more cat beds. Right now the biggest of the bunch is in our hallway in the spot where Hamish has taken to hanging out. He looks less poorly than he did and he might have even gained an ounce or two since we switched from the prescription cat food to grain-free Blue Wilderness. (Our vet recommended changing his food in the hopes we could fatten him up a little. He still looks like he doesn't feel well but he no longer looks like DEATH will pay him a visit in the next day or two. (Is DEATH personally responsible for ending the lives of all cats just like he is Wizards? Has Pratchett ever said?)

In Mom news, she's doing pretty well and gets out of the house from time to time. I think she's starting to experience that time of life where she's outlived many of her friends which means that when she goes to meetings of, say, the Literary Society, she's out with fellow members but they aren't ones she knows well. So she doesn't say much, she just sits with them and listens. I know she's looking forward to June, when she's going to spend a week or two with my Sister KC. She's looking forward to seeing her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, plus seeing KC's new house. I don't think I've even seen a photo of the new place. The previous place was on the side of a mountain and was gorgeous, but they decided to move closer to town after John (KC's husband) had a heart attack.

And now for a bonus...
