We went to Ionia to see my mom this past weekend. We drove directly from work on Friday and stayed through Sunday afternoon. We brought three movies with us; Hopscotch, Bend It Like Beckham, and Chicago. We planed to watch all three on Saturday but my expectations were thwarted by my brother Rob calling and wanting to go out to dinner. I'd thought we'd do dinner later that night, probably after watching Bend It and getting in the mood for non-American food. (There's a very good Turkish restaurant in Ada.) With the exception of my mother (and myself), no one in the family will even consider eating anything other than standard American fare (unless the dish is Latvian, in which case they often will. (Grandma Troms familiarized them with Latvian homecooking when they were growing up)). So we met up at an area bar and had a late lunch/early dinner with Rob and Diana, then the three of returned to the house and finished watching Bend It Like Beckham. Which was more fun and even cuter than I anticipated. We started Chicago when my nephew Travis came over with one of his children. The kid was loud and we couldn't hear the movie so we set that aside and just hung out until it was time for him to go and get his wife when her shift ended.

We watched Chicago on Sunday even though Travis and the kid were back. So was Travis' wife but if she said more than five words I didn't hear them. I'm not sure if she's shy or if she's just not a people person.

I didn't take any photographs over the weekend, which started bugging me when I thought about needing to create this week's scrapbook page. I figured I'd have to create a photographless page but jebra's sister called to tell us his/her/their parents were back from Florida and did we want to go out to dinner with them. We did, and drove to Okemos just as quickly as we could after left work. Dinner was just the five of us as Lora's husband couldn't make it. The dinner and company were great but it made for a long day. It was midnight by the time we got home and I always have stuff to do before bed. I was in bed before 2 am though and called it good enough.
