A Special Two-Page Spread!

The big event of the week was Motor City Furry Con (MCFC). I worked security with the Dorsai Irregulars and finally finished knitting my sister-in-law's scarf. (No photos of the finished scarf yet -- I still need to weave in the ends and block it.)

This years, MCFC selected Animal Magic as the charity. I ended up supporting them a little more than anticipated as I couldn't let the opportunity to have my photo taken with Seven, their sloth, pass by. The way I'd intended to show my support was to put two of my cat beds into the auction. Which is what I did, but I was on duty when they came up for bid. I'm told them brought in $50, but I don't know if that's $50 total or $50 each.

The Furry Parade was great, you can see one small photo from it on the pages. I forgot to ask how many furries participated but there had to be several hundred. My favorite costume was the Fruit Bat; you can see her on one of today's pages as well. She was absolutely adorable. I also liked the horse sheriff -- he had hooves and that badge on his vest? That's either or grandfather or great-grandfather's actual Sheriff's badge.

Scrapbook papers & elements from the kit The Best Is Yet To Come.

Those furry costumes are awesome! And you look fab! What's that on your shirt? I can't quite make it out.

I love furries and especially their costumes. I think it was last year that I was reading the bio of the guest of honor and he said something about his life being changed by the movie Roger Rabbit and he realized that was the sort of world he wanted to live in. It's a lot like that at a furry convention -- zany costumes and lots of cute & silliness. One of the furries in the parade went as a t-rex and my photo of him/her does not do justice. The suit was mostly inflatable and the person inside's head was at about chest level on the t-rex and watching her/him bumble along the hallway was hilarious.

Anyway, to answer your question, my shirt is a Firefly thing -- the words printed below Jayne Cobb's picture read "you are beginning to Damage My Calm."

Hubby's a big fan of Jayne; he'd love your shirt.
