Last year we got a letter from our insurance company informing us that our garage was in too poor of condition to insure. This year we're having it torn down and replaced, which is not only expensive but a ton of work as a great many items that survived the flood were relocated to the garage during cleanup. In fact, emptying the garage is going about as well as emptying the basement did -- we work and work and work and somehow the garage remains full. It did not help that we had a few boxes of stuff that moved to the house with us 20+ years ago and have been in the garage ever since.

Great ornaments! I particularly like the Christmas tree mouse and the lantern (although, I thought that was an elephant when I first looked at it, lol).

We are talking about moving now that Rachel is (almost) done with her public school education (she's our only kid who can say she went to the same school system her entire school career). We all agree we are dreading the notion of cleaning out our garage and attic. That will be a nightmare of epic proportions.

Which is a long-winded way of saying, I sympathize with your woe. I'm pretty sure I have boxes in the attic of my mother's stuff and she died over ten years ago.

I'm sorry you're having to work so hard, but it's amazing what we can find when we excavate our storage areas, isn't it?

Oh, honey, I hear ya! Been trying to declutter and reorganize and plant tomatoes in containers and I'm just worn out. Doing a whole garage? I don't envy you, but I wish you luck. Can you donate any of the stuff to Goodwill? I just donated 4 30-gal garbage bags full of nice clothes I knew I would never wear again. (Because, God knows, I needed room for the t-shirt of the new Lewis//Hathaway art partners_r_more did for me. *g*) I really shoukd give away, sell, or donate my books, too, because I can't comfortably read real books anymore, so they're just a LOT of sentimental decoration...but I can't, not yet.
