Hello, dearest! I'm so sick of the cold, too. Ugh. I'm stuck in my dark little room with the shade pulled on the only window and the door closed to keep the meager heat in. Thank God for computers! Plus, I've been sick for a week,m so am feeling stir crazy. But I don't have to shovel snow (no car to drive, too rural to walk or take a bus anywhere).
I have a few books read by Kevin Whately. He's an excellent narrator--very natural. He even "does the voices" better than nearly anyone, and he doesn't overdo it with female characters like most male readers do. I've listened to some truly execrable readers on Audible, so I'm so relieved when listening to KW, because it's not forced or overly-dramatized--it just sounds like someone telling a story; it flows. Plus, well, we like his voice.
You may feel differently about it, but I've listened to two Morse books and read another, and I just cannot stand Colin Dexter's writing. It's got that "skeevy old man who thinks every beautiful woman will, against all odds, find him irresistible" vibe to it. Very off-putting. Plus, I don't think the mysteries are that great, either.
Also, FYI: if you're thinking that The Way Through (Into?) the Woods is going to have the terrific "Lewis in danger" scene--IT DOESN'T!!! I was all WTF??? But I'll send it to you anyway. That's the only one I still have.
I will upload everything I can for you. There are programs out there that can remove the DRM from Audible files, but the one I tried as a trial that actually worked was out of my budget at around $40. Because I only have one book of his from Audible. (The Kingdom By The Sea--good book, bittersweet ending. Brits don't like to leave anything too happy, lol).
I also have something else to share with you, but there is a condition attached. Will email you.
