Y'all know I get lost a lot, right? Well we took a wrong turn (the GPS lied) and found ourselves in Camden New Jersey. I've never been in NJ before so I was amused by the detour. Perhaps I am a little *too* used to getting lost. Jebra, on the other hand, was furious at the GPS and even more upset when we had to pay a $5 toll to cross the bridge in the other direction.

I figure $5 to add another state to the list I've ever been in wasn't bad at all.

I am relieved to be here and off the roads. City driving makes me nervous as does driving in icy conditions. We started with the later and ended in the former.

Tomorrow I hope to explore the area around our hotel by foot. I am told Betsy Ross' house is within walking distance. One of the US Mints is right across the street.

I'm glad you made it to the hotel!

I've sort of been in New Jersey. Years ago, I drove home from D.C. by way of Delaware so I could ride a ferry, so I could say I'd been on the ocean (sort of). The ferry's destination was New Jersey, but I didn't disembark before riding it back.

I can understand being furious about the GPS being wrong -- and the extra time driving, and the extra $5 toll. But I admire your seeing the good in the unintended detour.

To be honest, GPSes scare me. Seems like they never are right (and the talking ones kind of get on my nerves). I'm proud to say I can actually read paper maps and atlases; I've always found them much more reliable, lol.

Glad you got to add another state to your list! Have fun!

I do hope you waved to my home state as you passed through! But be glad you didn't stay long in Camden. It has the second highest murder rate in the country (next to Flint, Michigan).

I wouldn't have guessed that from the very little we saw of Camden. I've heard Flint is bad but haven't spent much time there in the past twenty years. Once GM moved out of Flint the city really fell into hard times.

*Lol* Don't you just love GPS? It's always a good idea to bring a map, just in case. At least I do since the last time we took a major detour and I had to endure Mister M.'s very bad mood and the bored kids on the back seat all the while.
