We survived our holiday adventures and I've been back at work for the past two days. jebra survived them too, although he is not yet back at work. After we unpacked the car on New Year's Day, he decided it would be wise to visit the ER at Beaumont Hospital and have his heart checked. The doctor could tell something funky was going on and that it wasn't a heart attack, so they admitted him for observation and additional tests. They released him last night after I was off work with instructions to eat healthier foods, walk more, and to follow up with his doctor within six days. Seeing as he already has an appointment with his doctor in six days, he was good to go. We spent the rest of the night getting him ready to leave for whatever convention it is he's working this weekend. He was already on the road when I got out of bed for work this morning and I wouldn't be surprised to learn he's arrived at the con. I believe he said something about his shift starting at 6 p.m. tonight.

Meanwhile, I've spent the day trying to clean off my desk. Sadly it looks much like it did when I arrived this morning. But I do have one thing to show off, my first craft finish of the year:

As I said on Ravelry, I don’t always follow my own written pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hamish-cat-bed) when making these. I’ve discovered that with a K sized hook I can use four or five strands of yarn at at the same time and I like to make the beds I donate to the shelter different sizes since not all cats are as round as our Hamish.

Seeing as jebra is feeling well enough to work security at MagFest, he can't be feeling too poorly. There is definitely something going on with his heart though -- it is putting in an extra beat every so often. I have no idea why it is doing that or what can be done about it. I keep wondering if he's going to need a pacemaker. I guess we'll know more after his appointment with his regular doctor on Tuesday.
