Drive-by Update

We're back from Ionia, safe & sound in our own home. Yay!

Christmas Dinner at the Chinese Restaurant was quite good. It was also interesting seeing parts of Ionia and Portland I've never seen before. (The restaurant was in Portland.) And it was great being there with my mom.

In family news, it appears at least two of my relatives are drug addicts. One is the ex-husband of my niece, the other is one of my cousins. I didn't see either one of these people and don't expect to ever set eyes upon the ex-husband again. The cousin is another story and I'm wondering if she will resurface in time for her father's funeral service.

And my half-brother is being evicted from his house. I'm not surprised that he's being evicted, what I'm surprised about is how long he was able to live there after he stopped making mortgage payments. We don't know where he's going to live next. He has a job but he has no money in the bank and no assets other than the antique furniture he's been collecting since he was a young man. I expect a few of the pieces are valuable but I doubt he'd be willing to sell it or that even if he did it would raise enough money to get him into a new house.
