First time in longer than I can recall. Thundering, too.

Last night I watched The Wild And Wonderful Whites of West Virginia. As maddiec24 said, "That's a whole lot of crazy in one spot." After the movie ended I watched all of the special features, which added another hour and twenty minutes of watching a family that reminds me of the worst of my own kin. Then again, we Davises do hail from West Virginia. Maybe it was something in the water.

It's raining because I got up earlier than usual this morning to water the garden, since I wouldn't have time after work. :-)

I'm delighted to see the rain, and I hope it stops before 6:00, because I have a ticket for the outdoor concert and fireworks at Greenfield Village.

So what happened? It was raining on and off here in Royal Oak -- I tried writing to you three times last night but LJ kept eating my responses and I gave up after the 4th try. Hopefully the weather cleared before the fireworks and Greenfield Village had somewhere for you to stay under cover until then.

There were intermittent showers at the Village, but no downpour. Most people had umbrellaa, or took refuge on the porches, or didn't mind getting wet. The weather did clear before the concert and fireworks.

Ooh, what were the special features? I saw it on Instant Watch, so it was just the movie. J wants to watch it now.

Well, the special features were very much like the movie itself. More scenes of the White family plus discussion of the family by the film-makers and a few other folks who have connections with the family (such as one of the local ministers and Hank III), and more footage of Mountain Rap/Dance.

I can't decide how I feel about the DVD. On the one hand, it was interesting and I'm still thinking about it. And I can remember it -- a huge thing as I was running on just three hours of sleep afterwards and we both know that should mean I'd have no recall of it whatsoever. On the other hand, it wasn't like it was a laugh a minute and it was worrisome to watch the children growing up in that family and to know that there are people so close to violence and their complete disregard for the law. I am *very* glad I don't (as so far as I know) live anywhere near people like the Whites.
