My skin does not like oil or grease, so I suspect I'd end up with both burns made by abrasion and break out with acne.
Perhaps oddly, my immediate association with "use vaseline" is something I saw on one of the true crime channels about prison life that featured some young woman who slathers herself with vaseline before fights. She said it protects her skin or prevents scarring or somesuch. I can't think of the last time I used vaseline nor can I recall why I used any. I know we used to have small jar, but the details are not currently accessible. I do know that in the home remedy department, my family relied a whole lot more of Vick's VaporRub. I still love the smell (although I may be a minority there as well).
