We've been listening to the #1 Ladies' Detective Agency books in the car. Which lead to me wondering just what those cattle bells she keeps mentioning sound like. I found the answer on youtube:

Dumela, Mma!. Now I hope you rent the HBO series next! It stars Jill Scott as Mma Ramotswe, and I am absolutely IN LOVE with the entire show. I keep hoping they're going to make more episodes. You must watch it.

It was only a week ago Saturday that I learned the books have been transformed into a television series. Thanks for the recommendation as I was skeptical it would translate well.

I admit I've never read the books, but I adore the televised series. I may have to ask you how it ends, because they only filmed one season and sort of left it on a cliffhanger.

It airs on HBO Family all the time. If you get it you'll probably stumble across it. Otherwise, when you're done with the books, definitely seek out the TV show.

Also! I sent you a message, just in case you don't check things often. :-)

The HBO series was so good. I bought it and have shared it with so many friends.

Thanks! I'm going to check it out after we've finished listening to all the stories.

My daughter and I love The No ! Ladies Detective Agency. It was the first adult fiction she tried to read, aged 9, when I home schooled her for the first time, and boosted her confidence and then we waited impatiently for the fatatastic TV show!

It' great, both TV show and all the books. Has the new, lovely small children's book, Precious and the Monkeys made it Stateside yet?

Thanks to the link to the bells, although over hear BBC7 (now BBCRadio4extra) did this little companion piece after ever show, a kind of Radio Gaborone, so I had heard the bells before.

I didn't know the series had made it to motion pictures until last week. I haven't seen any of them and don't want to until we've finished listening to all the books. I don't believe Precious and the Monkeys has made it here yet. It wasn't in the catalog the last time I checked.

Still reading your and the daughter's Lewis fic btw. I'm at about the half-way point I think.

You carry on enjoying them, the books are by far the best. Precious and the Monkeys is in hard back and was originally in Scottish. When I'm not bedbound and on my phone I'll pm you the IBSN. Please do pm me to tell me what you think of my writing. Kind comments and nicely put constructive criticism makes my day. I'm now writing down long hand another of the original bed time ones, it comes between Saltless Light and Blue Autumn Love.
