I was having fun. The whole day was pretty good, in fact. We got to ride the train (which lead to seeing the deer and the heron), we dropped stuff off at the animal shelter, and we had a wonderful lunch elsewhere in Dearborn. Good times!

I was having fun. Your "gee up" reminded me though -- I nearly got stuck on the horse after the ride was finished. As you can tell from the photo, I'm fat; what might not be as apparent is that I'm also not very tall. My horse was in the highest position when the ride stopped and I had a heck of a time dismounting. If it had been in that position when I picked my mount, I'd have had to pick a different horse as I wouldn't have been able to pull myself up that high.

Heehee!

My Dad and went on a carousel a few years back, (We're neither of us petite), it wasn't a nice sedate ride though, the horses were static and low and slightly slanted and the ride went *fast*.

As we spun round Dad started to slide off, the centrifugal force and his non petiteness combining to make it a tense ride - for him

For me, watching the alarm on his face as he tilted more and more had me in stitches. So much so that by the end I was almost falling off myself, laughing so hard I could barely breath, couldn't see for tears and was close to wetting myself!

He declined a second ride :)

Is that the carousel at Greenfield Village? I must ride it whenever I go to the Village.

Yes, it is. I almost always ride it when we're in the village, but my true favorite is the train. I'm completely in love with the train.

Next time I think I'm going to get a good photograph of the frog on the carousel. I think I shot the sign referencing the frog sometime last summer.

Very nice! As far as I can tell, your shots *always* are. Can you remember if the frog goes up and down? I don't think he does, but I could be wrong.

Yes, the frog goes up and down. I remember the Village staffer who runs the Carousel telling people that if all four of an animal's feet are on the floor, it doesn't move; conversely, if the feet are off the floor, it goes up and down.

I was going to ride the frog the last time I was there, but it was uncomfortably wide -- my feet didn't reach the stirrups! So I got off and chose a horse instead.
