Worked in the yard again today

and now I hurt all over.

Last night I started emptying the second compost bin. I finished that task today, along with using the finished compost to dress the flower beds in the front of the house. I also filled the self-watering planters with potting soil and then transplanted the tomatoes and rosemary we bought yesterday. And emptied three of the old flower pots, refilling them with fresh soil after moving the tired soil to the compost heap. I pulled lots of weeds and then started layering the fresh weeds with the unfinished compost. By the time I was done, I'd completely refilled the compost bin I'd emptied this morning. The compost should break down a lot faster now that the roots are gone and the contents have been layered. And judging by how hot the unfinished stuff got just from being turned over, I think the newly filled bin is going to get hot enough to kill whatever seeds are in there in no time at all.

We haven't started cleaning out the pond yet. Going by how chilled I got from working outdoors without spending the day knee-deep in pond water, this was a good thing.

Two things I'm very happy about are that Jebra reassembled the compost bin that came apart (and we even have it back in its spot) and that he got the chipper/shredder working again. I am so glad I don't have to drop the $ to replace the darn thing.

Now we're off to dinner.
