and now I hurt all over.

Last night I started emptying the second compost bin. I finished that task today, along with using the finished compost to dress the flower beds in the front of the house. I also filled the self-watering planters with potting soil and then transplanted the tomatoes and rosemary we bought yesterday. And emptied three of the old flower pots, refilling them with fresh soil after moving the tired soil to the compost heap. I pulled lots of weeds and then started layering the fresh weeds with the unfinished compost. By the time I was done, I'd completely refilled the compost bin I'd emptied this morning. The compost should break down a lot faster now that the roots are gone and the contents have been layered. And judging by how hot the unfinished stuff got just from being turned over, I think the newly filled bin is going to get hot enough to kill whatever seeds are in there in no time at all.

We haven't started cleaning out the pond yet. Going by how chilled I got from working outdoors without spending the day knee-deep in pond water, this was a good thing.

Two things I'm very happy about are that Jebra reassembled the compost bin that came apart (and we even have it back in its spot) and that he got the chipper/shredder working again. I am so glad I don't have to drop the $ to replace the darn thing.

Now we're off to dinner.

Cripes, I'm exhausted after reading the first three sentences.

Maybe next you could build a sauna. *g*

A sauna sounds like a great idea (and Jebra's been asking for one for years), but someone else will have to do the building. I can barely move today! Hell, I slept for fifteen hours and I'm *still* tired.

We finished planting our garden yesterday - got the tomatoes and peppers in. In my mind, it's not a garden until the tomatoes go in, lol. It was kind of chilly here, too, especially for this time of year.

Also planted sage in my herb garden. My oregano overwintered well and is going crazy, the cilantro and basil are sprouting with enthusiasm ... gardening is the most optimistic thing we can do, isn't it? *g*

I think I envy your herb garden, not to mention your knowledge of herbs. We had a herb garden a few years ago, but I didn't make notes of what I'd planted and it turns out that other than chives, I can't identify what's in there. It has since gone wild and I have no idea what's what. Or what's an herb vs. a weed for that matter.

I agree with polly_b. I was busy yesterday and oh MY is my body telling me off today!

I do love the smell of rosemary, I think it's one of my favourite herbs. I keep promising myself a herb garden but with dogs around, it's difficult to find the right spot. I think I'll get another boat planter. They're a local speciality, like a window box but shaped like the fishing boats that go out into the bay. We have one (most of the houses around here do) but it's rotten.

You guys are really going for it. Hope dinner was good :)

I hope our rosemary likes to be petted as I love, *love*, *LOVE* the smell and I know I'm not going to be able to keep my hands off it.

The boat planters sound neat. I'd like to see photos of your neighborhood.

And you've reminded me, I forgot to look to see if I still have packets of herb seeds in the kitchen drawer. I got them many years ago (wouldn't surprise me to know it was ten or even fifteen years) to grow on the windowsill only to have the husband complain that they were unruly and unsightly. Not to mention I don't think he ever used any in his cooking. (I don't cook and would live pretty much on boxed cereal, soy/almond milk, and chocolate if it weren't for the husband and lunch at the office.)
