I posted my search for that hooded cape pattern to one of the forums on Ravelry and boy oh boy did they ever come through. They identified the pattern (or one that's darn close) as Daphne's Baby Cape in the book Knit 2 Together by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark. And the Troy Public Library had a copy available -- which I borrowed last night.

Today's goal is to inventory my knitting needles as the last thing I want to do is buy duplicate needles. I have so many it's hard to keep track of them all -- although when I told Jebra I might need to buy more he looked astonished and told me he thought I already owned one of every size available.

When I read Tracey Ullman, I thought no, THAT Tracey Ullman? And it is - - Tracey Ullman wrote a knitting book!

BTW, I got your post card. Thanks, sweetie!

When I saw the name on the cover I thought "Nah, that can't be the same Tracey Ullman." I really didn't think it was until I saw your post and then started reading the book. She talks about her return to knitting while working on a John Waters film in her introduction to the book and that clinched it for me.

There are some seriously gorgeous projects in the book too. There's a pattern called Lacy Hug-Me-Tight that I think is the most beautiful shrug I've ever seen. Not that I'd look good in it, mind you. (You can see someone's rendition of the pattern here http://pretty_ing.blogspot.com/2007/04/fo-lacy-hug-me-tight.html

And yay for the post card's arrival. :-)

You're so funny... one of every size... why would you only want one set of every size? I have at least 10 sets of size 1 dp's... shoot, the socks I have going right now have a bronze needle, a bamboo needle, a silver needle and a pink aluminum needle-- all size 1... just happened to be the 4 size 1's I could find handy when I started the sock.

You're right. Yesterday after thinking about it for a bit I regretted not buying two sets of the Harmony Wood interchangeable needles because I like knitting in the round on pairs of circular needles. Although seeing as I do like knitting on DPNs when the yarn isn't so slick it slides right off the needles, I probably don't *need* two sets.
