Yeah it is. What scares me is that I managed to accumulate all of it in only four years. I had to go back through my scrapbook to figure it out, but I didn't learn how to knit or crochet until 2006. Not that I'm an expert now, there are still *tons* of things to learn.

You sound like me when I used to work at Walmart in the craft department. I bought material and lace and thread and patterns then I bought a sewing machine. I taught myself how to sew. I never got great at it, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. I still have way too much cloth, lol.

I tried knitting and crocheting when I was a kid, but I never got the hang of it. I admire you doing it. :)

Man, I'd be *so* broke if I worked at a craft store or a store with a craft department!

I don't sew well and don't think I ever will. Physically it seems to be a lot harder on my body and when I sew tend to have my stuff spread over a very large space. Like the entire lunch room at work. I don't have that kind of space at home, which is why most of my sewing stuff has migrated to work. I fear the day he gets sick of seeing it and orders me to take it all home, as I have this horrible suspicion I have much more than one or two car loads of personal crap hiding in the various nooks & crannies around the building.

Yep, sure is. And it's going to take me a long time to use up.

And I *love* the penguin hug icon you used here. What a cutie!

I've been thinking about this for nearly a month and I STILL don't have an answer. I love color, especially strong and vibrant color. I love turquoise and teal and red and purple and sometimes green or blue or pink or yellow or...

It just may depend on my mood on any given day.

*It is hard to pick favourite colour isn't it - I say that purple is mine, but I love rich dark petrolly greens too, and blues and.. well everything but yellow!

Do you ever get to the point where you have a ball of gorgeous colour wool and just don't want to use it, just want to retain it? I fear my stock is going to grow and grow 'cos I can't bear to part with colours!

Well, as much as I love particular skeins and cakes, I think my major problem is that I don't think I knit (and/or crochet) well enough to risk a mishap and thus put off using my favorites for fear of wasting it. I'm not too concerned about my stash growing as I have (crosses fingers for luck) managed to talk myself out of buying more until I use up what I already own.

I have that same gray Alpaka wool-- 10 skeins of it. :) It was a good sale :)

I'm afraid to take pictures of my stash-- tho I have to admit that 4 of the 17 bins in my craft room are actually roving and unspun wool for the spinning wheel :)

I got mine off ebay. Where'd you get yours?

I think I'm jealous that you know how to spin and that you have a spinning wheel. On the other hand, I already have arthritis in my hands and not enough time...

Elann.com and they don't have anymore, or I'd have a dark gray sweater :)

As for spinning and arthritis, spinning is easier on my hands than knitting is, it's also very meditative. (I have arthritis, too, hands, back and hips).

The time is a problem, tho. I don't sit down to spin very much anymore because it's a day killer. I start, intending to go an hour, and 6 hours later realize I'm stiff and sore and have a mile of new yarn... and haven't done anything else all day.

Maybe if I did it more, I could do an hour or two at a time, instead of getting sucked in and hypnotized...

I wish you lived near me. I'd love to teach you and it'd be fun to hang out with you just on general principles.

If you live near me, I'll teach you. I've already promised to teach my niece this summer... I could do another class...
