Last night? Where did you watch the fireworks? I was at Greenfield Village last night.

We watched Red Run Country Club's fireworks, from Red Run Park. The park has the advantage of being within easy walking distance of our house.

How was the show at Greenfield Village? I imagine it was very good.

And are you going to Clawson's show tonight? We've gone the last two years and it's been excellent. I'm looking forward to it and it tends to be a much longer show than what Red Run puts on. Then again, Red Run Country Club is spending their own money, so I find it difficult to complain about the brevity of the show.

I probably won't go to Clawson's show, even though I know it's excellent. I'm tired out from spending all day (13 hours!) at Greenfield Village, and I'm not keen on dealing with the traffic.

The show at Greenfield Villages was good, though IMNHO not as spectacular as in previous years. The festivities began with a fife-and-drum corps. The River Raisin Ragtime Band was the "warmup act" for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. And the fireworks -- the photo for "this day in history" is from last night's fireworks. I have a bunch more to sort through, even though it took a while to figure out the timing with my "new" camera.

Who did the narration for Lincoln Portrait? Mum went a few years ago, and Dennis Archer did it -- she said he was very good (he would be -- he's a very well spoken man). Somehow, I can't imagine them asking the current mayor. :)

We had tickets for the Wednesday night show (the one that was cancelled due to the thunderstorm). We're still debating whether to try for tonight's show. There's still tickets available, afaict.

Thursday night, somebody from Channel 4 (but not Carmen Harlan, alas) did the narration. I think Dave Wagner from WRCJ was scheduled to read it for Wednesday. I'm really sorry you got rained out (but not sorry it was Wednesday and not the day for which I had tickets!).

I miss Dennis Archer.

Yeah, Carmen would have done a good job.

Wednesday wasn't a complete loss -- we stopped in to see Mum while we were in Dearborn, and my sister showed up to bum a bed off her (her flight had been cancelled, and she's got a standing invite to crash at Mum's if she needs to). We probably wouldn't have seen Anne until Christmas otherwise.
